EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Genesis -A Journey of Five Years…
Anusandhan Kolkata is a non-political, non-profit organization that prioritizes social, cultural, and educational initiatives. At the core of this organization were a few well-known, mostly retired, professors, scientists, and teachers. Prominent scholars, educators, writers, artists, psychologists, and technologists are also present. The list of those who supported the quest for the noble object is vast and crosses national boundaries.
A Brief Summary of its Origin and Purposes
Started in May 2018 with the genuine support and encouragement of noted educationist late Mihir Sengupta, distinguished educator: Professor Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, Dr. Basab Chowdhury, and Shri Divya Gopal Ghatak, as well as other distinguished educators Dr. Debabrata Mukhopadhyay, Sajal Raychoudhury, Sheikh Ali Ahsan, Pankaj Mahapatra, Nayeemul Haque, Sahabul Islam Gazi, Asaduzzaman, Pantha Mallick, and many others, began efforts to provide extra necessary assistance for secondary and higher secondary examination candidates to stand by.
Teachers with similar views agreed to lend their support whenever possible when pleas were made. Upon reaching out to the school administrators in various West Bengal districts that we had previously interacted with, they welcomed us. Subsequently, many school visits wrapped up in North and South 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Burdwan, Howrah, Murshidabad, and Malda. Then the work started.
Special examinations and doubt-clearing sessions were scheduled for students each month in November and December of the same year, which connected the ninth grade with middle and high school. Meetings with notable educators and teachers took place in 2019. The quest for explanations and remedies to the growing reluctance of parents and students to send their children to Bengali-medium schools was the main topic of discussion throughout these meetings. It discusses how the “National Education Policy 2020” would impact the future educational system and how we should get ready for it. Meetings took place at the Sanskrit Collegiate School in Kolkata, which was then headed by principal Dr. Debabrata Mukhopadhyay.
Normal schooling was badly disrupted once the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic took hold. How can the education, cultural, and educational programs for children and adolescents continue during this crisis, while also maintaining the children’s and adolescents’ morale in the face of constant, horrifying news of disease and death while under house arrest? Following that, it was determined to attempt to stay in contact with the students via online learning environments and offer as much assistance as feasible. Class 10 was the first to have daily classes, which began in May 2020 and are still going today.
This year, special workshops were launched primarily to pique the curiosity of 9th and 10th-grade students on various topics workshops in English, Physics, Life Sciences, and Mathematics.
Specialized motivating classes are arranged to help students overcome their mental exhaustion. In the four sessions conducted, eminent educational psychiatrists such as Dr. Gautam Bandyopadhyay, Sanjit Sengupta, Arijit Roy, etc., were present. For a brief period, the entire activity existed under the name “A Group of Teachers.” These kinds of events proved so successful that a formal name was urgently needed. Renowned scientist, Late Shri Samar Bagchi gave the group the name “Anusandhan” at the beginning of 2021. Later, on July 26, the logo was chosen under the guidance of distinguished scientist Professor Matiyar Rahaman Khan, IARI, New Delhi. It was later registered as Anusandhan Society (Reg No. S0052789 of 2024-25) under the West Bengal Act XXVI of 1961. Before the registration of the Society, it was popularly known as Anusandhan-Kolkata.
